Chronic Sinusitis Treatment

  • Do you suffer from facial discomfort, nasal congestion or random headaches?

If this is you, you may be a victim of chronic sinusitis. This condition is very common - in fact, it affects more than 3 million people in the United States every year.

Fortunately, it is treatable and can be taken care of within a matter of days. At Meyerson Sinus Center, we specialize in Balloon Sinuplasty. This is a non-surgical procedure to remove the congestion of mucus from your body. The reason you're feeling pain or discomfort is because there is an overbuild of mucus that is blocking your nasal passages, causing the surrounding cavities to become inflamed.

We can help you clear those passages and get back to a pain-free life. Treatment with our physicians is simple and improved within a matter of days.

  • How to Tell If You Have Chronic Sinusitis

Unsure if you suffer from chronic sinusitis? It's easy to diagnose yourself. Are you having any of the following symptoms on a continual basis?

    • Headaches
    • Runny nose
    • Nasal congestion
    • Facial pain

A lot of people experience discomfort in their face, especially in the back of their eyes and forehead. They may also suffer from a distorted sense of smell or experience total loss of smell. If this happens to be the case, give us a visit. We can have a look at your condition and talk about your options.

  • How Does This Procedure Work?

Balloon Sinuplasty clears your sinus passageways. It eliminates congestion and inflammation. When your sinuses are blocked, we use this procedure to clear them.

We use a small balloon catheter to create a pathway within your blocked sinus. This facilitates an opening for the mucus to leave the body.

We invite you to get in touch with us to learn more about how this procedure can help you. We pride ourselves on being a Tampa service that gives patients a non-surgical way to receive relief.

  • Benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty

Our sinusitis treatments benefit our patients in 3 main ways:

Ah, allergy season—definitely not fun! But there are plenty of things you can do to alleviate your symptoms: 1. Over-the-Counter Antihistamines 2. Nasal Sprays 3. Eye Drops 4. Limit Outdoor Exposure 5. Shower After Being Outside 6. Use an Air Purifier 7. Keep Your Home Clean 8. Allergy Shots (Immunotherapy) 9. Stay Hydrated 10. Diet and Supplements If your symptoms persist, it might be a good idea to see a doctor or an allergist for more targeted treatments. How are your allergies affecting you? Could It Be Cold, Flu Or Allergies? It can be tricky to tell the difference between cold, flu and allergies, since some symptoms overlap, but there are a few key differences you can look for: Flu Symptoms: Fever: One of the most common flu symptoms. Typically, the flu comes with a high fever (100.4°F or higher). Chills and Body Aches: Flu often causes muscle aches, chills, and fatigue. Sudden Onset: Flu symptoms tend to come on suddenly, often within a few hours. Fatigue: The flu often leaves you feeling very tired and weak, sometimes lasting for days. Cough: A dry or productive (with mucus) cough can occur with the flu. Sore Throat: This is also a common flu symptom, and it might come with difficulty swallowing. Allergy Symptoms: No Fever: Allergies do not cause fever, so if you have a fever, it’s likely not allergies. Sneezing: Frequent sneezing, especially when exposed to allergens (like pollen), is a classic allergy symptom. Itchy Eyes, Nose, or Throat: This is one of the hallmark signs of allergies. Clear Nasal Discharge: If your nose is runny, the mucus is typically clear with allergies, while a more thick, yellow or green mucus might indicate an infection like the flu. Symptoms Triggered by Exposure: Allergies tend to flare up when you’re exposed to allergens (pollen, dust, pet dander, etc.) or during certain times of year (like spring or fall). How to Tell the Difference: If you have a fever: It's more likely to be the flu or some kind of viral infection. If symptoms are seasonal and involve itchy eyes or sneezing: It's more likely to be allergies. If you're feeling extremely tired and weak: Flu could be the culprit, as allergies don’t usually cause such intense fatigue. If you have a high fever, persistent cough, or severe body aches, it’s worth seeing a doctor to rule out the flu or other infections. If your symptoms last for several weeks without a fever and are triggered by certain environmental factors, it’s likely allergies. What Kind of Doctor Should I See For allergies, the best specialist to see: Primary Care Doctor: If your symptoms are mild or just starting, you could first visit your primary care physician (PCP). They can help determine whether it’s allergies or something else, and they may be able to offer basic treatments or refer you to an allergist or ENT if needed. Allergist (also called an immunologist): Allergists specialize in diagnosing and treating allergies, asthma, and immune system disorders. Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Specialist: If your allergies are causing significant sinus issues, chronic sinus infections, or affecting your ears and throat, an ENT (also known as an otolaryngologist) may be helpful. They can evaluate any complications that allergies may be causing. When it comes to a severe allergic reaction (e.g., difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, hives), you should go to the emergency room immediately, as it could be anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction. Schedule your consultation with Meyerson Sinus Center at one of our three convenient Tampa locations to get a head start on allergy season. Address your sinus issues today. Sniffles and Sneezes - Is it a Cold or Just My Sinuses Acting Up? When you feel that telltale tickle in your nose, followed by a sneeze and then another one, it's easy to jump to conclusions. Is this the start of yet another cold? Or, is it just those pesky sinuses acting up again? Let's dive into the mystery together! It all starts with understanding what’s going on inside our bodies. Sinus issues can mimic cold symptoms because they both involve inflammation of similar areas - nasal passages and throat. But there are subtle differences we should pay attention to; for example, sinus problems often come with facial pain or pressure whereas common colds usually don't. Now imagine being able to differentiate between these two nuisances quickly and accurately – no more unnecessary trips down the medicine aisle at your local pharmacy! This knowledge will not only save you time but also prevent any undue stress about catching every bug that comes around. What Triggers Your Sinuses to Act Out? Attention, sinus sufferers! Ever wondered why your sinuses seem to have a mind of their own? Some days are smooth sailing, while others feel like you're battling an invisible enemy. It's time we shed some light on the common culprits triggering your sinus flare-ups. Firstly, let's pique your interest with a fun fact: Your body is home to numerous air-filled pockets known as sinuses. They help keep our respiratory system running smoothly by producing mucus that moisturizes our nasal passages and traps dust particles or germs. But when these little helpers get inflamed or blocked – hello discomfort! So, what sparks this unpleasant chain reaction in the first place? Allergens top the list - pollen from flowers, spores from moldy corners of homes; even pet dander can send those sensitive areas into overdrive causing congestion and pain. But wait there’s more! Environmental factors such as sudden changes in weather conditions can also be major triggers for some people. And who would've thought that viral infections (like colds) could cause inflammation too? Desire relief yet? We bet you do! Understanding these triggers is half the battle won against pesky sinus issues because it helps us avoid them where possible or prepare ourselves better if they’re inevitable. When to Call the Doc: Signs Your Sniffles May Need Professional Attention You know how it goes, one moment you're feeling great and the next - bam! You've got a case of the sniffles. But when should that little nose nuisance ring alarm bells? It's time to pay attention if your symptoms persist for more than a week or escalate into severe discomfort like high fever, sharp facial pain or intense headaches. Now pique your interest with this: did you know that what seems like an ordinary cold could actually be a sinus infection? Yes indeed! The sneaky thing about these two is they share similar initial symptoms making it tricky to tell them apart. Don't we all want peace of mind knowing exactly what our bodies are trying to communicate with us? Absolutely! Understanding whether those pesky sniffles are just due to common cold or something else can help guide appropriate treatment decisions. So, here’s some action for you; If over-the-counter remedies aren’t doing their job and things seem more serious (think along lines of persistent fever, throbbing toothache-like pain in face), then get yourself checked out by medical professionals pronto. After all, there’s nothing casual about health – so let's not treat it as such even if our tone suggests otherwise! Keeping Colds at Bay and Your Sinuses Happy Hey there, fellow health-conscious reader! Don't you just hate it when a pesky cold sneaks up on you or your sinuses decide to go rogue? It's time we put an end to this. Let's dive into some prevention tactics that will keep those nasty colds at bay and make your sinuses jump for joy. First off, let me grab your interest by saying - yes, indeed - preventing these annoyances is entirely possible! Imagine going through the winter season without constantly reaching for tissues or nursing a throbbing headache caused by sinusitis. Sounds like bliss doesn't it? What if I told you our secret weapon is simple lifestyle changes and home remedies? Intriguing right? Regular hand washing can significantly reduce the risk of catching a common cold while staying hydrated helps in keeping those sinuses moist thus reducing discomfort. A balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables strengthens immunity making us less susceptible to infections too! But wait...there’s more! Ever heard about humidifiers being used as preventative measures against dryness which often irritates nasal passages leading to inflammation hence sinus problems? And remember grandma’s chicken soup remedy during flu season – well turns out she was onto something because warm fluids help soothe inflamed linings of our nose and throat while clearing congestion. Start implementing these tips today so they become second nature over time thereby ensuring long-term benefits towards maintaining optimal respiratory health. Remember, wellness is not a destination but rather an ongoing journey requiring consistent effort and commitment towards maintaining optimal health amidst all odds! So, whether it's a cold or persistent sinus issues, schedule your consultation at Meyerson Sinus Center and be on your way to better health. Call us at (813)775-4176 today!
